Thank you, Ted, for a clear, concise and illuminating response to my
queries. I understand the distinction between civil and criminal law
much better than before your post. However, I would still have a problem
with acting prior to a decision by some court. Too often claims are made
which are later disproved. When a chicken cackles, how do we know if she
is laying or lying? 8-) I don't think we disagree on the necessity of action
in specific instances, merely on when it should be taken. Obviously I am
more versed in prudence than jurisprudence.
As far as court and jury decisions, I could only refer to those in my
personal experience and they might be exceptions rather than the rule.
