Storing Eggs, Again!

I can't remember if I saw this subject on the List, or on the News
Group, but I know I saw it somewhere in the last couple of weeks. It was
a discussion on storing eggs for long camping trips.
While at our Gilwell Reunion, the discussion of storing eggs for
campouts came up. One of the Scouters mentioned that he had seen a
Scouter some time ago, demonstrate how to keep eggs for months if not
years, by dipping them in wax (I think it was wax). He said they
sampled eggs that were kept unrefrigerated for more than six months!
Has anybody out their, heard of this, or has anyone used this method of
