I am a CM that has can remember so pretty dismal Roundtables, like the time
we spent the whole time stringing beads for Cub-O-Ree -- not surprisingly,
attendance was extremely poor. Several years ago the District Committee and
a new Roundtable Commissioner decided to revitalize the program. Many of
the "improvements" made are similar to those shared by others in thist List.
I add only some things that worked here that I have not seen mentioned.
1. We highlight a different pack each month. They have a portion of the
program in which they can highlight an activity they have recently had, ask
for advice on a particular problem in their pack to be solved, or anything
else they would like.
2. We have light refreshments - chips, dip, and soflt drinks.
3. We occasionally have "expanded" roundtables to promote/lead up to
various major district or council events. For example, at the roundtable
preceding Cub-O-Ree we will have a special roundtable for new cub leaders to
discuss tents, camping, camp cooking, etc.
Hope this helps.
