I have had a rather odd but interesting request from one of the dads in
my den. I am seeking help from all you old timers out there on this one.
I am a den leader of a Bear den. I have 7 boys (as of now). We have
been an active den with full support from the parents of all the boys. In
our first year, we put on a 15 minute play written by one of the boys
complete with props. This year, two of the boys have already received their
Bear rank (in August). Most of the others will be done by mid October. We
are working on the World Conservation Award and we have a community project
lined up for the Good Turn Award.
Here is the dad's request. He wants the den to work toward an award
that no one else usually gets. He wants to stimulate the boys to go the
extra mile and to build up their self esteem by having the other boys in the
pack talk about the award our den received. I like his idea very much.
Here is my problem. Although I was an Eagle scout 30 years ago, I never
was in Cub Scouts back then. I only started as a Den leader a year ago when
the den first formed. I do not know much about the Cub Scout program yet.
Here is my request. Does anyone know of an award that we can work
toward that is in the Scouting program?
