Boys Life Changes

Last night I met and spoke with the Managing Editor of Boys Life
at a school night for Scouting function. I asked him about the
upcoming changes to Boys Life as I knew it was a topic of interest
to all of us. Here is the scoop.
Boys Life will retain its present physical appearence. That is, it
will stay the same size and thickness.
It will also retain the same look and feel for both the "cub" and
What is going to change is a bit of the content. A section, (12 to 20
pages I believe) will be targeted for each group of scouts.
So Cubs will have a replacement section with more comics, bigger print,
more pictures and easier reading.
Older Scouts will have a section targeted more at their reading level.
These changes begin with the September issue of BL and will be
phased in month-by-month until January, when the magazine will reach
its final state. That is, there will be 2 or 4 page section in September
and that will grow until it reaches full size in January.
BL is taking this step to increase readership in single cub families
and to induce cub/scout families to subscribe to each version of
