The age requirement has changed for 1996 to 14. This (IMO) is a
good thing. I know that there are some that disagree, but I think
Philmont should only be for older scouts. Our venture crew in my
troop is only for 15 and older scouts. Younger scouts really
can't handle the challenges well enough and don't appreciate it

The only weight restriction that I know about is for horse back
riding. The rider (regardless of age) must be less than 200

Where are you from Mike? I am bring three crews from my troop to
Philmont next summer also. We are from a small town in
Massachusetts and just got back from the Florida Sea Base Bahamas
sailing adventure. That's what I love about scouting, the chance
to do things that I probably wouldn't do unless there were kids
for making excuses for doing them.
