I think Stephen made a good point that we are dwelling too much on minor
interpretations and not enough on substance.
Some may disagree with the analogy but just as I would not use vulgar language
in speaking to a public group, I would not use a prayer that I believed others
would find offensive. But, if you ask me to lead a prayer, don't expect me to
say exactly what you wanted to hear.
BTW, some of us might suggest that the following is not appropriate.
"Let us not presume to know how the Creator prefers to be
honored. Let Him decide the worthiness of our prayers."
Some would suggest that the decision belongs to HER!
