Our troop is planning an outing next month that will bring us near
some caves. One of the fathers (who is attending) used to live in the
area and has some experience with the local caves, and he has
contacted a friend of his who has more experience. The boys all want
to visit one of the caves while they are in the area. The Guide to
Safe Scouting says "1. Cave exploring, other than simple novice
activities, should be limited to high school-age or older Scouts and
Explorers." Any sugestions as to how we determine that the planned
outing is a "novice activity"?
Also, any sugestions for the format of a permission slip? Any guidance
will be appreciated.
