In Longs Peak Council MB Counselor lists are the responsibility of the
district. Council policy says they must be registered as MB Counselors on
the district roster, but leaves most of the policing up to the District
In our situation, a council-wide listing of MB Counselors would be of little
practical value since the council is spread geographically over three states.
Someone in Laramie, WY, is not going to use a counselor in Scottsbluff, NE,
or Greeley, CO. But I can see that it might be different in an urban area
such as Denver Area Council, our neighbor to the south.
I think the differences we see from council to council may reflect these
differing needs, and is part of the flexibility that makes this program work
all over the world. We need to meet the needs of our Scouts so that they can
reap all the benefits that they can.
