I think I read something in the Backpacker magazine regarding using
film containers for storing salt, sugar and such. Those are not safe as
the containers might still have chemical residue no matter how much you
clean them. I am a pharmacist and I supplied my boys with plastic
prescription bottles for free. Those are clean bottles, go to your
local chain pharmacy and ask for new bottles. If the pharmacist is kind
enough he/she might give you some. Tell them it is for boyscouts. I
have no problem giving them to you but I am in Mass.
