Not familiar with chiggars (maybe that's because I'm from NY and have done very little outdoor type stuff south of PA) but ticks are a BIG problem around here.
We're as far north as any where in Ohio. Tick checks are a way of life here,
so far it's only Lyme disease of concern in our area, but I'm sure that will
change in time.
