Just for your info. Three weeks ago we held my son's Eagle Court at our
Synagogue. We used a modified version of the Eagle Challenge Ceremony
which we got from the archives of this list. The rabbi of our synagogue
gave the opening and closing prayer. Although our synagogue is
conservative, the attendees were not required to wear a kippa (skull
cap). Many were familiar with our custom and did wear one.
The refreshments were served as in any other Eagle Court (of course they
had to come from a kosher bakery). Basically there was no difference in
substance between my son's court and the five other Eagle Courts we have
held this year. We had thought about combining the Court with an
evening service on a Saturday night (havdallah) but because of the late
hour such a program would have to begin (sundown wasn't until @ 9 PM) we
chose not to.
I'm not sure I understand the issue, is there one?
I used to be a Bobwhite,
but I'm really old and feeble now!
