I earned my Eagle in 1972. I think Eagle is just as hard to receive
today as it was back then with one big difference. That being, Merit
Badge Universities. These afford the Scouts easy access to many of the
harder badges. Way back when, we had to contact each counselor, arrange
a time... etc. Most of my badges were completed on my own and not as a
group. MBU's provide a needed service in today's fast paced world. But,
everyone involved needs to protect the integrity of the program and make
sure these merit badges are earned. I also like the change in Eagle
service projects from individual effort to planning and organization of a
group. Right in line with today's business objectives.
