I been reading about whether it is easier to make Eagle in the nineties vs
other times. I thought it was interesting that we are even having this
I recieved my Eagle in 1974 under then call "New Scouting Program"<Grin>.
I remember hearing about how it was going to be easier to the achieve the
rank of Eagle. As I worked by bottom off to achieve each rank I could not
see how it was easier.
As adults it is hard to remember what it is like to a teenager working on
this achievement. What it reminds me of is the time I walk to school in 5
feet of snow for several days in a row<grin>. (I lived in Hutchinson, KS at
the time). We will always think that when we did it, it was harder.
If you feel the requirments are getting easier, then as members of BSA we
should correct the wrong. The use of mb clinics and alike are because of
the desires of leaders to motivate the boys and to protect under the
guidelines of YPP.
After reading what I just type, my response is that requirements to be part
of 2 percent of scouts to make Eagle, they haven't changed that much but as
old Eagle Scouts are memory is not what it use to be.
