Marshmallows at the ready!
Is there a 6 hour time difference between America and Ireland or
is it 60 years???
The rules regarding Male and Female leaders here is that there must
be separate sleeping areas for leaders - neither Male or Female leaders
can sleep with the cubs, and male and female leaders cannot stay
together. In America, when the mothers put their children to bed and
turn out the lights do they leave the house and sleep outside?? All
children have both mothers and fathers who (on the whole) sleep in the
same house - why should cubs be any different?
I have been a female leader for the last 12 years with my sister - we
have run a very happy cub pack which only went mixed (boys and girls)
2 years ago. We now have 25 boys and 3 girls. We have 2 male leaders
and my other sister that help us out with meetings and weekend hostels
and camps. I can assure you that the parents would be very shocked if
only the males stayed overnight. My sisters and my husband would
never object to us going away for weekends - and leave them with our
children. It gives everyone a break - they get "quality" time with
the children and we get away doing what we really love doing.
Do the committee people not accept that leaders are responsible people
and would always look after the childrens moral beliefs.
I hope I have not offended anyone but do not believe that the committee
is right about this rule.
