At Troop 16, camperships are provided by our sponsor, the Saratoga
Springs United Methodist Men's Club. In general, they will provide
whatever we request for needy scouts.
Our basic policy is that a scout/parent may apply for a campership
with the troop treasurer. While we don't have firm guidelines about
income, etc. we have pretty much taken the approach that if a parent
is willing to ask for help, they probably need it. We just request a
Since the scout is credited with 1/2 the profits he earns from most
fund raisers, we expect that will cover the other half.
Since we are a small town and small troop, we generally know scouts
financial circumstances, so documentation is not normally a problem.
This has been particularly true since the merger into Twin Rivers, as
Twin Rivers does not make camperships available to scouts attending
summer camp out of council and we don't like going the same place
