The pushups rule is bad enough, but in my opinion the SM committed an
actionable offense when he forbade swimming as punishment in violation
of camp policy that all boys were to take a swim for health and safety
The SM should be "taken to the woodshed" by your DE, and told in no
uncertain terms that any more of that outrageous conduct and he'll be
booted out of scouting.
There really is no excuse for this at all. You and your son
undoubtedly will be better off personally in another troop, but what
about the boys left behind, who will continue to suffer under the
tender mercies of this sadist? I would get corroborating witnesses
lined up, and discuss the entire matter with your DE. This is a very
serious matter, in my opinion, and someting ought to be done about it.
I'd be interested in what any DEs participating in this forum think
about the matter.
I am now on-line at home. Anyone wishing to correspond with me
electronically should contact me at "firstname.lastname@example.org". I'm
switching to the digest mode for scouts-l at the office.
