Everytime you present a rank, badge, or pin you are investing the
Scout with enveloping or pervasive quality of the Scouting program. Might you
mean the presentation of a badge of office like the Senior Patrol Leader patch?
There is probably soemthing in the Woods Wisdom book. Usually I have seen it
done like a changing of the guard/change of command ceremony at a court of
honor. The departing SPL calls the new SPL forward and explains the "job"
to the gathered parents. They can make it a very interesting tangent from the
job description found in the junior leader training! <gr> Usually, a
plaque or gift is presented from the troop to the old SPL and the new SPL
is given a gavel for running the PLC. You can really take things to another
plain by getting theatrical with it.
