Hope they are also registered as Merit Badge counselors with your council.
Doesn't your district provide you with a list of approved counselors?

Does this mean that the boy can't choose his own counselor for his badge?
Are your boys allowed to go outside, what appears to be troop members, for
their counselors? Remember one of the objects of Merit Badges is for the
boys to work with people who know the subject and may not be known to the
boy. It helps to teach the idea of working with differant people.

Hmmmmm, how about if that parent is a Merit Badge counselor for that badge?
If they are like most parents they are going to be a bit tuffer on their own
