Please take this as a friendly correction, but you should have
sent this to the list server at firstname.lastname@example.org ,
not to the entire scouts-l list itself. The way you did it,
everypne who reads the list saw your request, but the mail
list maintenance program did not. As such, you added to the
useless noise that you complained about.
If all else fails, try contacting Jon Eidson at
He is the list "owner".
You should have received a message with instructions on how to
do this when you first joined the mail list.
Note that *must* send the request to get off the list from the
same machine that you used to sign up. Otherwise the addresses
don't agree. This is a security mechanism to prevent someone
else from falsely removing you from the list.
