Since this shakedown is tomorrow, what I suggest is to have the
shakedown part in your backyard anyway. Have the girls walk around
in your yard with this weight to get an introductory idea of what this
load will be like. Them hike the neighborhood without the back more than
two miles to work on their endurance. You will them have to plan another
trip before the one in two weeks. This time take them somewhere none of
their friends live and do the entire hike with the packs. They are going
to have to get in condition before taking the real thing. This is about
out all I can suggest due to the shortness of time. I would hate to see
a wasted chance to get ready for the trip, even if the plan of actually
hiking with the packs don't work. Let me know how it went.
