Does anyone know what the BSA policy is concerning dispensing medicine to scouts on outings? Surely there is something out there
in black and white concerning my responsibilities and protection if I dispense some prescription medicine on an outing. I am fully
aware of the policies and ramifications of dispensing medicines in a school setting in Maryland. These policies are in place in prevent
and protect against both law suits and danger to the student. Can't these same concerns apply to us in scouting? I guess what
bothers me is that, on a recent outing as the weekend leader, I was presented both Ritalin and Prozac to me by a parent with verbal
instructions on dispensing the two.
What are my liabilities in this situation as I live in the sue crazy Baltimore-Washington Corridor? Does anyone think that I was taken
advantage of, or is this my paranoia?
