My Asbestos suit is on.
I was wondering if any of the unit leaders, especially multiple hatters,
have ever wondered where some of the District Scouter's heads are?
I personally feel that some of them are out of touch with reality.
At our most recent District meeting a member of the Activities Committee put
on the floor, a change for an event next year. Most of the discussion and
ayes where being placed by Scouters who do not deal directly with the youth
I believe that I finally convinced that Activities Committee member
to broach the matter at Roundtable with the Unit leaders; prior to the
Committee making a descision.
Also some of these District Scouters, whose only hat is on a District
Committee, have a difficult time understanding why some of us do not agree
with their ideas.
I recently had one of these individuals questioning my reluctance to go and
do Training in some individual Units. I tried telling him "Time Constraints".
He didn't seem to understand.
At our last Advancement Committee meeting I brought along my Calendar for
next year. I explained to him that our unit's "Youth's Wish List" wasn't on
there yet. That takes place next month, when myself and our unit's Junior
Leaders along with some SAs, do our Yearly Planning Session. I believe that
gave him a message; for he asked me if I had a Life outside of Scouting. To
which I honestly could reply "NO"
I'm not really Down on District Scouters. I just feel that some of them
forget that this is a Youth Run program; because they only deal with the
