One Fund Raising activity that has worked for our Band Boosters is Pop Can
Drive. The town is notified via newspaper, TV and radio of the day the
drive is conducted. Teams of kids go house to house picking up pop cans,
some people just sit them out side the door. Each team has a van or
pick-up to hold all the cans. The cans are then returned to a local
grocery store for the deposit.
You need someone with a big garage for sorting the cans.
You need drivers and vans or pickups
You need to coordinate with the grocery store in advance so they can handle
the quantity. They will also give you the collection boxes and bags so the
kids can count and sort the pop cans.
The coordinator needs some good maps of town. He/She assigns streets to
the teams so that you don't have two teams working the same area in town.
Our Band kids regularly raise $400-$600 for about 4 hours work.
