A number of people sent and asked me for info on the Grocery Scrip
fundraiser. You really don't need to be all that big of a group, even 50
families would work. Because everyone goes to the grocery store -- right?
everyone eats out occasionally? everyone buys clothes? Well add up what
your family spends on a monthy basis for these purchases -- $ 300 - 800/month
-- right? Multiply that number by the number of families in your
organization? Then take 5% of that number. That is how much $$$ your group
could make. The National Scrip Center (standard disclaimer -- $crip is only
one of my hobbies) makes it easy and simple for you. NO UP FRONT $$$ is
needed. To make this work well you should have the program run at least at a
troop/pack level; real well at a District level; better yet at Council level.
Unfortunately it is a real uphill battle to convince anyone at a Council
level that this would work, but you could make a real cool Council and
troop/pack split if they would do the major set up work.
Sorry this is what happens when anyone mentions $crip.
