re the shaving cream suggestion
Over on Soc.Genealogy.misc and .methods, shaving cream was mentioned as a
good way to highlight the crumbled carving on some gravestones.
The objection was raised that shaving cream has stearic acid in it, which
would damage the stone.
Not being either a geologist or a chemist, I'm taking their word for it,
but I would suggest that acid of any sort *may* not be the best possible
thing to put on a serious burn.
