In reply to Dan Brown's comments on True Eagles on June 10, I feel that he
is correct. There is no way that anyone can expect an Eagle to give up his
whole life to scouting. Generally they go to college within a year of
receiving Eagle. After college they usually go out into the world and don't
return for long stays in the town where they grew up.
I feel strongly that the scouting program is here to teach morals and good
life habbits to all scouts so that the scouts are better prepared for the
world that they will face after they finish their schooling. It would be
nice to see all the Eagles return to service in their old troop, but we can't
expect them to do that. Everyone has their own life.
I'm sorry for this heated letter, but I had to get this off my chest.
