Just thought I would throw in my opinion on voice mail and AA (automated
attendant) systems. There is a world of difference between the two. Voice
mail is designed to record a message for a person who is not there or busy.
AA is designed to guide a party to the right person to assist them.
A simple system is best, with all the frequently used information on the
first menu. A very important feature is the ability to enter the mailbox or
menu choice while the recorded prompt is playing. This way your callers
don't have to wait for the greeting message to finish.
My Sea Explorer Ship tried a PC based system voice mail system for a few
months, but found the hardware lacking in sound quality and storage time.
