Hello to all,
I have been following the advise of the original e-mail concerning this
newsgroup. I started receiving the SCOUTS-L Digest sometime around April 1,
1995. I have not sent anything to the system in the intervening time to get
something of a flavor concerning the general flow and status of the group.
I have seen some negative and I have seen some positive things in the
readings -- for what I have had time to review!! I never thought that a
hobby of mine could ever be so all encompassing of spare time and cost (for
computer paper) !! I am working on my 5th volume of material to browse. I
can only imagine what a years worth of digest information will look like when
I am at that point!!
I am the Cubmaster for Pack # 411 in the PAVAB district, Tidewater Council
located in Norfolk, VA. I personally live in Virginia Beach, VA, and the
Charter Organization of my Pack is the Knott's Island United Methodist Church
in North Carolina. I have been in this position since January of this year
having transfered from the Assistant Cubmaster of Pack # 493. I am
particularly proud of having taken this position because the unit would have
disolved were it not for my personal involvement. One of the boys in my
group was able to take his Pinewood Derby car to the District level and won
the First Place position for First year Webelos -- an event that would never
have happened had I not volunteered for this job!
I would like to put out a request for other units in Cub Scouting that are
attached to this digest to send me email concerning By Laws. At the present
time, there are no by laws for this group, and I have nothing as a go-by. I
figure that it would be a good option to check and see what has worked for
other units and what has been disastrous for other groups also!! If I can
learn from the successes as well as failures of other groups, then the boys
in my Pack would definately profit!! If you don't have your by laws on
computer programs compatable for uploading, I would appreciate any person
willing to send copies via snail mail to this address: Bruce D. Ford, P. O.
Box 9551, Virginia Beach VA 23450-9551.
Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter. As time passes,
I shall be sending my 2 cents worth on some of the issues at discussion on
the digest, but for the meantime, I will probably simply be emailing
individuals directly with my thoughts concerning individual postings on the
