Arrow of Light is a cub scout award. This award is earned through activities
in cub scouts. If a boy earns the award he gets it.
If a troop wants to get Webelos for new recruits, I suggest the troops earns
them by providing a good program. A troop can improve its chances by
sending good den chiefs and by offering joint activities.
This is something which I thourougly don't understand. Everybody tries to
push us cub leaders around. Our program gets changed practicly on a yearly
basis. We get printouts of which webelos didn't transition yet. There are
committees evaluating transitioning webelos. I get phone calls from asm's
whether we have some webelos for their troop. On the other side troops
think they can impose dates on the cubs when they can transition. Other
troops exclude their new scouts from going to summer camp. Councils
deny troops additional places in camp when they got more new scout
then expected from transitioned webelos. Why can't the problem be fixed
where it is caused instead of blaming cub scouts? There are more then
twice as many cub scouts then boy scouts. What is wrong with the boy
Proud cubmaster transitioning 100% of this years 5th grade webelos.
