I agree that there are problems with the election system at present.
However, asI reviewed my copy of the Election Guide Book, I noticed that=
first requirement is Unit Leader approval. I knew it was in the process
somewhere, but was surprised to find it first. That has to be the beginn=
for a correction to the results as we are experiencing them.
The aspect that I would like to see change, besides the popularity issue,=
after a scout is approved by his unit leader, meet the camping and rank
requirements, there should be a commitment from the scout in accepting
"nomination" for the elections. This should include an explanation of th=
duties and responsibilities of membership towards service.
All, of course, is IMHO.
