Some time ago, as part of my Wood Badge ticket, I came into possession
of a complete list of licensed Texas Hospitals. Since that day it
has been my intent to spread this info far and wide so that Texas
troops might be prepared for emergencies on camping trips.
To that end, this info is now on the net!!!
It hangs off Troop 117s excellent web page at:
or you can get there more directly at:
I anticipate that Texas scouters can use this material, by looking up
the hospital nearest their camping site before each trip.
If you wish, (a strong suggestion) you may print out the actual hospital
list and take it with you on your travels in your first aid kit.
If you are with a Texas troop or camp in Texas AND YOU WILL MAKE AN EFFORT
TO DISSEMINATE THIS INFORMATION WITHIN YOUR COUNCIL, I can send you a
somewhat more compact format of the document. Drop me a line at my
Finally, if you are NOT a Texas scouter, you may wish to visit the page
for several other reasons.
* There is information on how to build the same list for your state
* There are recommendations on the proper steps to take to insure that
you are ready for camping emergencies.
I would very much appreceate any comments or suggestions you might have
as to the utility of this list or ways to improve it.
