Hi out there in Scouting land,
I am writing this not to complain but to try and get an understanding
of your feelings about the "new" scout pants and their missing cargo
pockets. I am looking a possibly launching a campaign to enlighten
National, particularly the uniforming committee that they made a
mistake and that we really want the pockets back. I spoke with Paul
Claus at National this morning. He informed me that we need to write
letters to him and ask that they be forwarded to the Uniforming
Committee requesting the pockets back.
If we get enough support, they should bring them back. I don't know
about you, but I find these pockets extremely valuable on campouts and
at scout meetings to put things I need ready access to.
I asked about having both types of pants (with and without the cargo
pocket) but was told that they wouldn't do that because then the
uniform wouldn't be uniform. They already have that problem now
because there are many who have pants with the pockets that are quite
new and will be worn for years to come. I wasn't totally satisfied
with that response. I feel that regardless which type is worn, the
uniform will still be uniform. To me it is no different than having
some boys and leaders in long pants and some in shorts.
This is my opinion. I want the pockets back and if you feel the same,
please let's write and let National know our feelings.
Thanks for your ear. Have a great day!
