I attended a really nice Eagle COH this weekend. While chatting with the
Scoutmaster of the troop (I was visiting) he commented on his concern
about the questions that had been asked at the BOR.
The questions were lead by the "Council Guy"---sorry I missed the appropriate
title. After the questions about his Scouting experience and Eagle efforts
the subject turned to "general life questions."
My friend was concerned because the questions were ones that he wasn't even
sure of the answers. One question that comes to mind was, "How do you feel
about Gays in the Military?" Other sexually oriented questions followed.
Is this really a fair game question for a BOR?
It happened that this scout was 17 & 11 7/8 months <g (close!)>.
Would these questions still be appropriate for a 14 year old eagle?
If it wasn't appropriate, since the Scoutmaster was invited to sit in
and listen, should he have spoken up? He's really concerned since his
son will be a young eagle coming up on his BOR.
What does the collective think?
