Well, this weekend was our EPY (Emergency Preparedness for Youth) Annual
Mock Disaster. Our girls went as victims this year and they had some
great moulage done on them. We were simulating a rock concert that had
gone amuck. (I had been trampled in the crowd and was painted with
bruises and had a broken hand.)
When the girls who were being trained in first aid arrived in the
ambulances there were approximately 100 people laying all over the lawn
moaning and groaning for help. The girls had a ball. Some had simulated
shock and flying glass, cut arteries, and protruding broken (turkey)
bones. They did such a great job on the moulage my daughter passed out
watching them prepare the victims! She then simulated shock very well.
:-) People were wandering around delerious and some were screaming.
Very realistic for those being trained for a disaster. The girls had to
scan the crowd and treat the victims, not knowing what was wrong with
them they had to figure out who needed help. Armed only with some cloth
triangles, they did a wonderful job, under pressure of the sirens and
people crying and screaming. A great learning experience was had by all.
PS I was having trouble getting my e-mail for a few days, but it is
straightened out now. If I didn't answer you...I didn't get it! Please
contact me again.
