Mark Orlovsky asked about National Jamboree info for 1997...
Generally national starts sending information and newsletters to Councils
about 15-18 months in advance of the Jamboree - so that the Councils can
form their Jamboree committee, recruit leaders, etc.
If you are interested in serving as a leader in your Council contingent,
talk to the Council office (probably early in 1996.) The costs are heavily
driven by what kind of tour your Council troop would plan - the actual cost
of the Jamboree is just a portion of the total cost. You can also apply to
work on the Jamboree staff. That, too, will take some contacts at your
Council office, and often takes some networking with Regional people (pros
and volunteers). For example, there is a big staff that produce the
events, and there are key people scattered around the country who recruit
their own key people and fill in with others.
It's a tremendous experience...very hot and humid... with a lifetime of
memories. Go for it!
