Loaded question? *hehehe*
The BSA National Office is worth a small short trip if you're around
Irving. There's a *small* display that is changed about once a
quarter which revolves around the national emphasis programs. Most
importantly, you get a *small* glimpse at the national operation.
There are no tours that are conducted, but if you coming, you might
want to give someone in the External Communications Division a call
and let them know that you'll be there and if it's possible to shake
hands with the Chief Scout Executive.
Our new CSE is a personable guy and, if he has time to do so, would
spend a couple of minutes with you to chat or perhaps to take a
picture or autograph a Handbook or sash.
Carolyn Cummings is the Associate Director of Communications at the
National Office and is the "point person" you need to contact if you
want such a visit. Don't bother her if you're just "driving thru" and
only have a few minutes to spend at National. Because our CSE and his
staff is kept rather busy, nowso more than any other time of year,
it's rather important that you plan to spend about a hour or so there
*just in case*.
There's also a small trading post which does carry some uniform
parts, some literture and some insignia. Its main claim to fame is
this is the place to get your "official" BSA National Office
memorbilia, including the infamous "National Office CSP".
Have a safe trip and don't forget to tell them all "Hi!" from us here
