I have found a wonderful book for games and activities that I thought you
might be interested in. It is called Book of Simply Grand Scout Games &
Activities by Bright Impressions. It is published by Bright Impressions
Inc., 950 Silica Drive, Sandy, Ut. 84094.
What made me think about telling you about this book is when the topic of
Cub Obstacle Course came up. On page 38 there is a game called "Underwater
Race." You set up an obstacle courses using things like: chair to walk
around, rope tied between chairs to step over, rope tied between poles
about four foot hight to duck under, walk up stairs fron wards then back
down backwards. Use your imagination and make it as varied as possible.
Fill a #10 can FULL of water. Have each cub hold their can on their head.
This is not a race against time but skill the one that has the most water
left in the can at the end. Take a ruler and measure how far from the top
the water is at the end of the course for each cub scout.
I would suggest doing this out doors in warm weather. My Bears loved it
and they all wanted to do it again. It would even be fun for a family
I used to be a FOX!! A Bear Leader, a Blazer Leader, an Advancement
Chairman, Dist. Roundtable Comm., on the Council Cub Scout Committee and
now on Dist for the 11yr old scouts. That's not counting when I was a
Cadet scout leader.....love scouting yes I do!!
