Someone familiar with LDS can probably fill in the details better, but it
has to do with the religion itself and the role women are expected to fill
in the LDS church. LDS women are supposed to take care of home and hearth, and
the GSUSA policy of teaching the girls to dream and reach for those dreams
conflict with LDS beliefs. There was an LDS Girl Scout unit in our Service
Unit up until a few years ago, when the minister (right term?) of the local
LDS church retired, the Girl Scout group was disbanded. Most of the girls that
were in the LDS group, have since gone on to join other troops.
