What a week. A week ago, Christains all over the world celebrated the Jesus
rising - now a couple of days later, we have this blast that killed many. It
was hard watching the service on Sunday, because of the children. Could you
amanage losing two children because (how Clinton put it) loving parents wanted
to place their children some place safe so they can go to go . With children a
big part of my life,
it really hit me hard seeing all those parents listening to the speakers and
wonderful singers. I think as volunteers or professionals in Scouting, we
need to talk to our children and Scouts about this. Children depend on adults
to keep them safe - Did we let them down?!
If you saw Clinton's talk to the children on Saturday morning, this one
girl said that one could plant trees to remember them. Or stores where I live
put out ribbons to remember those who died or who lost love ones. As a
Scouting organization, we need to reconize what happen. Right now it was not
some mideastern country doing it, but our own murdering our own.
In your meetings coming up, maybe a silent moment or planting a tree or putting
ribbons out. Let us all pray to those in Oklahoma and appreciate life. We
never know what the day may bring. I surely know some of those who went to the
building that Wednesday morning didn't know that was their last day to live.
If anyone could give me information on where I could send cards to, please give
me the address. Also if you know where to send to the Scouting family that
lost or missing loves ones.
