BSA Troop Finance Problem

To Bob Myers
Bob, at one time banks were glad to have people like Scout Troops have
accounts with them. However, with all the bank mergers and take overs, and
many banks not having local owership anymore, it seems that it is in a lot
of cases quite costly to have a low balance bank account for a Scouting unit.
Many units now do their banking with the Scout Council Office, they deposit
their funds in the unit account, and then certain people with the unit are
authorized to charge advancement badges and merit badges, activity fees,
camping fees, what not to the account, or to with draw cash if needed for
something that can not be obtained at the Scout office.
I have no experience with a Salvation Army sponsor, so don't have any idea
of their requirements, but I have never heard of any thing like that before.
I agree, that could be a problem. Good luck.
