My name is RJ Miller and I am the Assistant Den Leader for my son's Bear Den
in Argyle, Texas, a small (pop. 1575) town 30 minutes Northeast of Ft Worth.
We are in Pack 192 of the Longhorn Council. My son started Cub Scouts as a
Wolf (in Huntsville, AL) and I became a scouter the following year (back
here in Texas). My youngest will be a Tiger this fall and can hardly wait.
Since registering as a leader seven months ago, I have completely enjoyed my
scouting experiences, PowWow, Roundtables, Training, and District
activities. (I agreed to be district Scout-O-Rama ticket sales chairman in
a weak moment after roundtable one night ;) ) But the most rewarding aspect
has been that my son says his favorite thing about Cub Scouts this year is
that I am working in his den.
Away from Scouting I am an Engineer with Texas Instruments, active with
youth and choir at Church, and the usual family stuff with my wife (who has
been very supportive of the evenings I am out doing scouting activities) and
three children. This summer, after a vacation to Yellowstone, we are moving
back to Huntsville for another one or two year assignment.
Well, enough of that, thanks to MAJ. Mike Walton for posting advice in
rec.scouting on subscribing to Scouts-L.
Yours in Scouting, RJ
