I have been following the thread about a Cub whose parents don't bother to
pick him up with interest. In light of the YPP reminder the leaders in my
troop got last Monday, I have some questions to pose to this list and seek
First, I have no children.
I also serve as OA chapter adviser. My chapter chief is not yet old enough
to drive, so I have to take him to the Lodge Executive Committee meetings.
The lodge EC meets about 35 minutes from our homes, so it is really not
practical for his parents to take him. Besides, isn't the purpose of adults
in the OA, to drive? *g*
So, apparently I am breaking the YPP, correct? There is no other adult in
the area I can carpool with to provide two-deep leadership in my car. No
other youth from the area regularly attend EC meetings. What do I do?
Personally, the thought of having to worry about two-deep leadership for a
half hour car ride between a Scout's home and the Council's office seems a
bit silly to me, but we live in a strange world today (at least in the US)
and it _is_ policy.
