Our Pack has an annual conservation project at one of the large county parks
here in Houston. Each boy/family buys a tree and we plant them on a
Saturday in April. It's been quite a success for the last 2 years (our
third time is coming up next week). The park officials are glad to have us
do it, as long as we follow their guidlines(types of trees, size, where to
plant, etc.), and the boys have gotten a real kick out of having "their"
tree at the park. It cost about $15/tree for a decent 5 gallon tree with a
bag of mulch. Our grove has about 75 trees in it now. Another 3 or 4 years
and it'll be a *great* picnic area....
