You want something easy, that will not take more than an hour, unless you
combine it with a fun activity like a family picnic. Some suggestions:
Clean up a wooded area, explaining that trash kills animals.
Plant a tree on your chartered organization's property. Sometimes the
county or municipal forester or parks department will let you plant one on
public property. Trees help the environment.
Participate in a community-run park cleanup or take a small part in a
larger conservation project sponsored by a community group. Beware,
though, that a community project which does not already have a history of
success may lean too heavily on "Scouts" to make it work.
