I have read numerous items on places for troops to camp during summer outings.
I am the Scoutmaster for Troop 326, Patrick AFB, FL. The base has a very nice
scout camping area located along the Banana River. The camping area is just a
short ride to the beach (around the runway), a few miles south of Kennedy Space
Center, and just 60 miles east of Orlando. Scouting organizations are also
allowed to use the base dining facility. Toilets and showers are available.
For more information, send e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or call or Unit
Commissioner, Jake George. Jake is in charge of making reservations for all
scout units visiting the base. You can reach Jake at work at 407-264-5558. If
this fails, call the base Youth Services at 407-494-4747.
In addition to the base, many other areas are available to scouts in the local
area, most located along the rivers or beaches. Take advantage of a wonderful
