Michele Whiting was looking for water sports without a pool. Here are
Sprinkler Volleyball: if you have access to a spigot and a hose, attach a
lawn sprinkler and use it as a volleyball net.
Firefighter's Bucket Brigade two or more teams line up between a water
source and an empty container. Using several small, equally-sized
containers (cups, e.g.), transfer the water from the source to the empty
container by passing the cups down the line. For more fun, have the teams
send the empty cups back up the line for refilling. Either put a time
limit and the team with the most water in their "empty" container at the
end of the time is the winner OR let it go on forever and the first team
to fill their container is the winner.
Variation on the above: each team member carries a cup of water from the
source to the empty container by holding the cup on his/her head with one
hand and running. These two games are also very adaptable for themes.
Space: the teams are fueling their rockets; Circus/Zoo: the teams are
watering the elephants; Ecology: irrigating crops because of a drought;
etc (use your imagination).
