This doesn't always make sense. I believe that Scouts Canada has
no such rule, and I haven't come into something like that yet here.
When travelling by car, there is no reason not to wear the uniform.
(Or plane, or bus, or train..) However, sometimes travelling to
or from a Scout event (Venturer event) is done by bike, in our case.
Biking on a hot day, like 30C, isn't especially a good time to
wear uniform; especially those nice, warm navy blue long pants.
(ouch!) This just doesn't work very well. Oh yeah, and the beret.
Doesn't fit too well under a bike helmet, although it's not as bad
as a baseball cap. I suspect that baseball caps under bike helmets
are very bad ideas. The force on that little point in the middle
would be tremendous..
(My Company's by-laws say only that Uniform is required at official
functions, such as church parades. At other times, uniform is optional)
