I can answer one of your questions. I went to college in northern NY
(Potsdam) and lived in Buffalo for 4.5 years so I have lots of experience
travelling in Canada *g*.
As long as the boys (and leaders) are American citizens, no passports are
necessary. They only need documents identifying themselves. For those that
have them, a drivers license is sufficient.
However, it is highly recommended that all going to Canada carry a copy of
their birth certificate, or similar document with them... just in case...
This will establish their citizenship as American.
Also... I don't know if you plan to drive in Canada but... anyone who does
should get a "Canadian Insurance" card from their agents. US insurance is
valid in Canada, but an American insurance id card is not considered proof
of liability insurance in Canada. Be prepared.
