Check with your DE - There is a BSA pamphlet that describes this very
situation and what you should do. Basically, putting out a general
call for help from your adult membership (to fill this position, or any
other position) doesn't work. You and several members of the pack committee
and your chartering organization rep should get together and come up
with a wish list of people who would be good for the position. You need
to access qualifications and put the best people together for the job.
Then, ask the person that you have selected to be the Cubmaster - in person.
Make sure your candidate knows that there is a lot of help for him/her, in
the form of moral support (and other support) from the pack committee,
Cub Scout Basic Leader Training, Roundtables, PowWows , Unit Commissioner
etc., etc. to help in being the best possible Cubmaster. Being a Cubmaster
is a wonderful opportunity - My husband was Cubmaster for our son's pack
and we had the best times and wonderful memories. You meet the nicest
people in Scouting!
Good luck with your search!!
